George Leong's musical career in the recording industry began early, with his involvement in the 'Xin Yao' (新謠) movement. Very soon, he was composing, producing and arranging music for Asian Superstars. In 1992 Rock Records offered him an eight-year stint in Taiwan which had him working with artists, including Tracy Hwang, Sandy Lam, Alex To, Sammi Cheng, Karen Mok, Energy, Fish Leong, Jonathan Lee, Coco Lee, Johnny Chen and the late Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui. His compositions for Fish Leong's "彩紅", Coco Lee's "等愛降落", Alex To's "愛你愛的不尋常" and Energy's "永遠不說再見" earned him multiple platinum records. Last year, he arranged the dance tracks for A*Mei's current concert tour.

George worked and recorded with top session musicians and orchestras in Los Angeles, Canada and China, writing scores for films such as '紅玫瑰白玫瑰' (featuring Sandy Lam) and 'He's A Woman She's A Man' (金枝玉葉). His other works include trailers for Animal Planet, Discovery Asia and AXN. In 2003, he was awarded the "Top Local Soundtrack" award by the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) for composing the soundtrack for Mediacorp's TV series '新好男人'.

In 2005, he composed 'Singapore – The Place to Be', conducted by Lim Yau and performed during the International Olympic Committee Conference held in Singapore. That year also saw him producing tracks for Singapore Idol Winner Taufik Batisah and runner-up Sylvester Sim's debut albums.
